[Solved] Google app not responding to "Ok Google" voice

You might have found that when you open your Google Now app, it doesn't respond to your Ok Google voice. Not only that, when you want your phone to respond to Ok Google from any screen, you need to finish the Ok Google Detection where you need to utter Ok Google three times. At this point, you will notice that the your "Ok Google" is not recognized by the app. It keeps on "Listening" but never recongnizes and goes on to the next. All these point to a common problem. One more indication of the problem is that you will notice hollow speaker icon in the search bar (i.e., empty inside) of the Google Now or Google app. If it is filled, everything is working fine and you will also notice a filler in the search box saying "Search or Say Ok Google".

The reason for this behavior is one of you running apps or services. The way to go about which service or app is causing the problem, is to open your Apps in settings and then navigate to Running tab. Stop one by one and open the Google app to see if the speaker icon is filled. If not, stop the next running service/app and repeat the process. In my phone I can easily open the Google app by swiping upward from the home button. I am not sure if this is a KitKat feature or specific to my LG G2 mobile. This makes easy to open the Google app every time to check if the speaker icon is filled.

In my case, the culprit came out to be enabling "On-Screen Phone" under Services in Accessbility section of settings. Disabling this feature immediately enabled the Ok Google feature!

I'm now able to pass the Ok Google detection phase to enable Ok Google feature from any screen on my phone.

Hope this helps someone! Have a good day/night!
